IPod has revolutionized the world of entertainment with its micro size and macro program. One can store and play no less than 20,000 songs in his iPod, which is designed to fit into his pocket. A photo album containing 25,000 photos and up to 100 hours of video or any combination of these three are possible to enjoy in an iPod. He can even tour zoos, museums through nodcasts tagged to iPods.

iPod was developed by Apple as a portable digital media player in 2001. A freelance copy writer Vinnie Chieco gave the name iPod to Apple’s new product after being influenced by the all time great movie of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

In 2005, iPod 5G, the fifth generation iPod, was lauched with updated features. It was further updated in 2006 with brighter screen, search features, and newly designed earphones.
Besides being a digital audio player, the fifth generation iPod has the facility to view photos. It can store and play video files.TV shows, music videos and movies could also be viewed on the screens of iPods by using a special software.
The iPod nano is Apple’s fourth digital audio player which was introduced in 2005.

iPod shuffle is very small gadget weighing just 15 grams. It was launched first in 2005 but updated in 2006 along with second generation iPod nano.
