Nishant may be Indian Army�s treasure

It is indeed tough for a country to administer and mange its economy properly. But that is not all since the very country shall have to exist in a vicious political atmosphere where it is necessary to keep a close watch on the activities of the neighboring countries. Or else there may be a complete disaster! Now for a country like India, which has to exist in a volatile political environment, there is always a need to have eternal vigilance. For this reason there is a great need to have the modern gadgets and armaments. Well, in this regard the Indian Army is quite cautious and from time to time it is engaged in different experimentations to fortify the national security.

In this context, as a significant step in the recent years, the Indian Army for the sake of discrete aerial reconnaissance and target acquisition capabilities is going to have the pre-induction trails of Nishant, the pilotless aircraft from DRDO. There is a growing expectation that the Army is going to take Nishant which in every way is an unmanned aerial vehicle.

What has more been learnt is that Nishant has been designed exclusively for the effective performance in gathering distinct aerial intelligence and also to acquire targets on land and air. As a result the Indian Army is set to use it in the troublesome areas of Jammu and Kashmir so that all forms of intelligence can be gathered at the first instance. In any battlefield or even when the state is not in any war these reports can be crucial since it helps the Army to acquire targets to direct heavy artillery shelling. Along with this it also guides the fighter aircraft to locate the enemy positions and to charge at the time of necessity.

Speaking on this a DRDO official said, "Of the 12 Nishants on order, the ADE has already got four of the UAVs ready for delivery to the Army. These aerial vehicles will be used to provide hands-on training to Army personnel and for confirmatory trials.”

Nowadays India is utilizing the Israeli 'Heron' UAVs in operational areas, including Jammu and Kashmir for aerial reconnaissance and during anti-terrorist operations.

It is expected that the addition of Nishant will boost the morale of the Indian Army to a great extent.
